Using the LG Intuition on Straight Talk

I’ve had many people read my blog about the LG Intuition googling the search terms, “Can I use the LG Intuition with Straight Talk?”. So I did some research and no, you can’t. And here’s why and the research I’ve done.

No Refunds will be issued for this SIM Card or Service Card purchases. You will need a compatible GSM T-Mobile phone. You may also use an Unlocked GSM phone compatible with T-Mobile. This program/offering does not work with Straight Talk, TracFone, NET10, SafeLink, BlackBerry and/or CDMA phones.

And this is copied from Verizon Wireless webpage about the LG Intuition under Specifications

So now you’re probably thinking, “Does TMobile sell the LG Intuition?” No they don’t. In fact at this time only Verizon Wireless supports the LG Intuition.

Now with all that being said I must tell you I’ve had my contract LG Intuition phone with Verizon Wireless for seven months now and I love it. It’s more expensive than Straight Talk, but a smart phone on Straight Talk doesn’t seem very smart to me.

Check out number 6 in their terms and conditions before you purchase a smart phone from them. I’ve seen a lot of complaints about customers not getting truly unlimited data and being throttled or even terminated.

Another thing to keep in mind: I was told by a Verizon employee that prepaid customers don’t have the cell tower support that contract customers have. I can attest to that because the last prepaid phone I had I bought specifically so I could use the navigation, but where I live it never worked. With my LG Intuition contract phone I have no problem with navigation or any other service issues.

Now if you just want a basic cell phone to make calls and send text messages, straight talk may be ok for you. However I had to switch when they did away with phones using Verizon towers because the AT&T network wouldn’t work anywhere in my home.

I encourage you to do your own research and make decisions based on your specific needs. I always do a lot of research before I buy anything expensive or with a contract. My research of the LG Intuition paid off and I am extremely pleased with my phone and the Verizon Wireless network. I hope that helps.

Today I’m grateful for:

1. A beautiful sunny day outside.

2. I feel a sense of accomplishment writing this informative blog.

3. I have left overs for dinner so I don’t have to cook.

Both of my teenagers have smartphones on the Straight Talk plan. One is a AT&T carrier. The other Verizon. These kids are streaming content and on those phones constantly. They have never had a problem with anything. Never throttled. Interestingly enough, the last trip that I took from Atlanta to Orlando, my Verizon phone would not work half the time but my son’s Straight Talk phone never failed. His Navigation works fine but he does not use the Verizon navigation. Currently, Straight Talk has 5 phones that work on the Verizon towers. Look for the models that say CDMA-V. I hear that the Straight Talk iPhone works on Verizon but I have not verified this. I also heard that they are trying to get the Samsung Galaxy III to work on Verizon.

Verizon has now lowered their prices on prepaid. Unlimited texts and minutes with 2GB data is $60. Straight Talk’s is about $50 after taxes. You can get 4 GB data with Verizon for $70. I have no complaints with Verizon other than my Droid 3 is the worst phone that I have ever owned. I will going prepaid after July 7.

You are correct with one thing…the sim card porting days are over. Since the government made the rule that it is illegal to unlock a phone, that program was dead in the water.

You may want to do some actual research because i am currently using 4 cdma phones from verizon on straight talk.

    • I took the information directly off of straight talk’s official website. I used to love straight talk myself, but if you have a problem, they’re not very customer service oriented and you can’t speak to anyone that understands english. As for the LG Intuition, no it can not be used on straight talk. They advertise the sim cards, but they don’t work in every phone. Glad you are still happy with their service, their prices are amazing, as long as you don’t have any problems you need solved.

For Mike, is there any special thing I need to do, to use my lg intuition as prepaid?
